Unpopular opinion? Perhaps, popular (although, I’d never be caught dead being popular).
1) Bill DOES the right thing. And yeah, sometimes the right thing is the hard thing, and sometimes the right thing is even the wrong thing. But he is a King, a member of the AVL, and he has a responsibility that goes beyond himself and his loved ones.
2) Eric and Pam evil? I’m pretty sure evil is Russell Edgington, “the true face of vampire.” I think the most interesting difference between Eric and Bill is choice. Lorena forces vampirism on Bill, whereas Godric offers Eric, “What [he] loves most. Life.” And for me, there is nothing more human than choosing life.
Of course, I’m sure y’all are thinking, Eric and Pam are more than (less than?) human, and their main source of sustenance for the past 1100 aggregate plus years has been (still is) homosapien blood. Regardless, what I admire most about Eric is that, like his maker, he has never sought Power beyond Sheriff. And Power, as we all know, can corrupt. *Cough, cough* Russell Edgington, destroyer of more than several human civilizations.
Bill has shouldered the responsibilities of many. Eric lives his life free of politics and remains loyal and responsible for those he cares for. I respect them both.
I mean, what would you do if you were infinitely stronger, faster, the perfect predator, cursed with an insatiable hunger for human blood?
End of rambley rant. Agree, or not, I think one things for sure, ‘True Blood’ continues to be one of the most fascinating shows on television today.
